You know you live in Wisconsin when the first day of baseball practice looks like this...
I am not amused.
This was taken a little after 5 p.m. and the flakes continue to fall heavily and just keep getting bigger. Ol' Man Winter seriously does not know when to call it quits.
Carter did have practice today. They basically split the high school team into two groups and commandeered two gymnasiums for skills drills. I suspect they aren't going to get any real playing time in before their first game next Friday. Looking at the 10-day forecast, there could be some major melting going on, but melting will only lead to messy! Considering the April 4 game is set to be up north in Edgar, there's really, really a slim chance the season will kick off then.
But maybe Mother Nature will assert herself by then and kick the old man to the curb.
In the meantime, Carter and his teammates will try to get into the swing of things -- and I will, too, after being out of the office a week.
Frankly, Mondays tend to be a rude awakening no matter how many days you've been away. Today was just exacerbated (my seldom-used word of the day) by a print deadline, a co-worker's dead computer and a virtual pile of unread email. Yay, Mondays!
On the bright side, only 4 days to Friday AND it might be warm enough Sunday to have a date with Mr. Deck Chair.
Take that, Ol' Man Winter! And in case you didn't get the memo...
:)
