TGID (Thank God it's Dry-day)

It's a good thing we have summer hours at work now so we can get out of the office by 3 p.m. on Fridays. Our schedule is full and we can use those 2 extra hours!

We had a good storm last night but nothing like the twister action in Minnesota. The good news is that it was dry all day so we knew baseball would be a go!

Had some batting practice in town at 5 p.m. While Jim helped with that, I installed a new headlight bulb in the CRV. (We should have known when the driver-side one went a month ago or so that the other was bound to run its course soon.) Had the light installed in time to catch some of practice (I'm getting too good at this). Then we all did a convoy up to Stevens Point for this weekend's tournament.

The first team we played was one who came to our tournament last weekend and beat us 6-1. So it was quite encouraging that we scored 3 runs right away -- including 1 of 2 homers by Carter's friend and teammate Austin. The other team answered with the 3 of their own, though, so it was tied 3-3 after the first inning.

The game went back and forth like that. Carter hit a solid shot out to center field but they caught it. He also walked. No strikeouts, though, so that was good.

In the 5th inning, we were up 8-6. Then, our opponent hit a 3-run homer. Dang! Then the unthinkable happened. We hit our time limit so it was game over. We would not get another inning to rally. We lost 9-8.

It still was a great game with good hits and aggressive fielding. I hope the momentum carries into their two games tomorrow.

On the way home, we saw that racing was still going on at Golden Sands Speedway. So we stopped in to see how our nephew Colin did. Plus, since I am such a gearhead, you never know if he needs help in the pits! Turns our we missed his race but found out he took Fast Time tonight in qualifying and then finished second in the Super Stock feature. Not bad! We ended up staying for a race but then hit the road. It's late and we need to rest up for another busy -- hopefully dry -- day!

Have a good weekend!
