Warning: It's baseball season! And this blogging Momma will probably go overboard with photos and the play by play!
We couldn't have asked for better weather for our home opener (delayed because last week's games were weathered off the schedule). It was mostly sunny and mild -- like 50-something -- but breezy. A jacket and few blankets and we were good.
Today was a double-header versus Almond -- a small school located southeast of Rapids and Plover. In both games we started down 2-0.
Carter's first at bat and "Ouch!" Hit by a pitch. Not a good start to the game.
Here Coach Baltus tries to massage out the pain and give Carter a pep talk. "C'mon, C-Man, you're tough!"
He did end up stealing a base and did score once. However, his other at bats between the two games were 3 strikeouts and a walk. At least he went down swinging.
In the first game, Carter played third base. In the second game, he played second base. He was always ready but didn't see too much action. Which is a good thing. That means the other team wasn't hitting much. Somehow in both games we came from behind and won, 7-2 and 5-2. What a great start to the season!
This year Carter is #11. Last year he was #6. I think they just get what fits. Carter wasn't blaming the new number on his poor batting performance. He just blames himself and hopes to turn it around for next game. Maybe it will be a lucky number after all.
We'll see. And trust me, I'll let you know!
