Joy in Mudford

Had to travel more than an hour north to get back into the swing of the baseball season after Carter's college sabbatical. Arrived in Medford the same time as the rain clouds.

A lot of rain clouds.

At first the forecast for baseball was a bit uncertain.  Then the sun reappeared,  dropped a rainbow over the park and it was game on.

We just hoped the pot of gold would translate into treasured runs for us!

The break from the rain was short lived but play continued despite slippery mud and un-summer-like temps floating around 55 degrees. Huddled under wet blankets,  I was reminded of our wintry "spring" season for school.  No worries of sunburn.

Thankfully our boys like playing in the mud. We 10-runned Medford,  winning 16-5 in a much-appreciated shortened game. Carter was 2 for 3 and scored twice.  Most importantly, he did not slide in the mud!

To celebrate our win and penultimate game of the season, you know we had to stop for good ice cream at Hawkeye Dairy in Abbotsford. It was Carter's idea, I swear. So we had a cool treat as the temperature continued to fall outside and the heat was cranked in the CRV. Probably fitting my white chocolate-covered pretzel flavored ice cream was "Winter Wonderland."

Typical summer evening in Wisconsin, right?

I'm just glad we found joy in Mudville,  er Mudford!
