Miracle Birthday

Not a lot of people look forward to celebrating their 60th birthday. But I can guarantee you my sister Rachel is on the short list of those who do.

Eleven weeks ago, we thought we'd lost her. But here's our miracle birthday girl today, having a few reasons to finally smile!

One, some of her sister brought her cake. Two, she's in the rehab area rather than ICU or Surgical Care. And three, she accomplished something yesterday most of us take for granted – getting out of bed unassisted and into her wheelchair unassisted and getting to and from her bathroom unassisted. It's a pretty big deal for her.

And now you also know how long of a road she has ahead of her – especially when she can only rely on her right leg, foot, and arm for support. For now.

She's not just a miracle. She's a Wonder Woman!

Thanks for the prayers and please continue them if you have space in your heart to do so. She needs physical and mental strength – with some patience thrown in.

You've got this, birthday girl! You've already proven you can do it!

A Woman of Wonder

In case you Wonder what this Woman was up to today, it wasn't much. I realize I am running out of time for my magical "free week" to get things done. It doesn't mean the motivation is flowing as freely as the minutes.

I found the following to describe today perfectly...

So kinda wearing a cape like Wonder Woman. Just not up to fighting crime or kicking my To Do List off the charts. Still, I did get some cleaning and organizing done, a little shopping done, and oh, got my 10,000 steps in. So that's something.

I also acknowledge that when I don't feel like cleaning or anything resembling "work," I find excuses to do fun projects, like design work. I made the following good luck message for our boys cross country team, which competes at state (right here in Wisconsin Rapids) on Saturday.

Looking at this photo from sectionals last week, it is hard to believe it could potentially snow here between now and the starting gun at 2:35 p.m. Most is predicted Up North. But still, there will be a chill in the air.

At least for tomorrow, that will keep me indoors most of the day as I Wonder what this Woman can accomplish!

Tuesday Treats

Pretty sure I was the only one happy that it was raining when I woke up. Actually, make that me and 9,999 other Twins fans who waited in line for Prince umbrellas. It wasn't purple rain, but it was a good enough excuse to use my new umbrella.

And show it off, of course.

College Boy was happy about the rain, too. He got to nap in my recliner until the sun came out at noon, then go to work.

My second treat after the umbrella came at lunch. My co-worker (who shall remain nameless and shameless) and I got our steps in the hard way. Hard ice cream that is.

Yup, from our office to King Cone, it is 1.08 miles. So 15 minutes there, grab the goods and return... all the way licking away any evidence it was anything more than a lunchtime walk. For the record, the Butter Finger-Licking Good flavor is amazing.

Final Tuesday treat was tonight when my kickboxing Wonder Twin and I finally got to see our life story on the big screen. Yup, finally saw Wonder Woman! Gwen and I both give it two thumbs up. Good story, action, humor and a little mushy stuff to tie it all together. Oh, and yummy movie theater popcorn.

Gotta love a Tuesday where you have ice cream for lunch and popcorn for supper. You might be surprised at how often those are my main food groups for the day.

Hey, I have to get these Wonder Woman super powers from somewhere.
