Summer Scratch 'n' Sniff

I took a lunchtime walk with my friend Jenny and her lilac blooms were heaven scent! As I shared a photo of them, I said, "You can smell this picture, can't you?" That's when I thought that lilacs would be a great adult Scratch 'n' Sniff sticker! 

Sorry if you're too young to remember this staple of all our school notebooks in the '80s! It was entertaining and pretty amazing! 

As it turns out, my thought was not unique. There is actually a company called Everything Smells that has a lilac sticker! I might have to look into that now that I found it. 

Today was quite the summer reveal in Wisconsin. I thought yesterday was a nice golf day...

...But today – with our high of 86 – it would have been a nice afternoon to ride a boat after work. If you were the type of person who has one.

Instead, just like trying to keep up with salt accumulation on the car in the winter, I made a pointless attempt to keep up with washing the yellow-green pollen on my car. after work. It may last a day. Or maybe two. Meanwhile...

I created this very IMPORTANT POLL: Yes it's 85 degrees out but Spring Sports are not over, so...

• Keep the winter clothing in the backseat (👍)
• Remove and trust Mother Nature this once (🤣)

So far, the results reflect a resounding anti-trust issue with Mother Nature! So I'll give it time. And, so far it is not interfering with space for my golf pull-cart and clubs! 🏌

Be careful in this heat and careful, too, for the wicked weather which may or may not interfere with Tuesday afternoon tee time! Again... Mother Nature trust issues.

What the Purple?

If I didn't know any better – which of course, I DON'T – I'd think that's a V for Victory. Wouldn't you?

There was quite some time today that I wouldn't have dared bring up purple pride, but the signs were all there.

My church choir song was pretty purple (the song above). Then, right after the service, we celebrated our dear pastor's birthday with a lovely cake that just happened to have purple flowers on it. I'd show you a picture if I still had some cake!

And I swear that even though I was about to boast about lilacs and other Purple Pride, I'm so glad I kept my mouth shut!

Of course, with a sigh of relief, we'll take our purple pride victory and keep crossing our fingers! If you know, you know.

Common Lilac Law

We have a weakness in our house for the smell of lilacs. Maybe it's because we've spent 2 decades trying to get our plant to produce. In the meantime, I have to ask, is it illegal to steal lilac blooms from your neighbors if the blooms are facing your property?

I'm gonna say no.

It's just so nice to have that smell in our house. And I swear I didn't completely kill the plant to get it. 

From Hopa Trees to rhubarb and lilacs in between, I hate that some of the spring blooms have such a short lifecycle. All we can do is take pictures or eat it – on a deadline.

I actually looked in Wal-Mart last night for lilac-scented anything. They just had lavender. Which is not the same at all! So I'll have to settle for a life of crime as the blossom thief!

Don't judge me. Just visit and enjoy that lovely scent in my kitchen. And ignore the plants near the driveway that have been hacked to death!
