Getting Back on Track

If a truck can find a way to ride the rails, then I certainly can find a way to get back on track for a lot of things – like healthy eating and working normal hours and everything in between.

It's Monday. The only day you can start new things like that. So here I am.

I see my low-fuel light and wonder if my energy will last until the train – which apparently had a caboose as far away as Canada – passes by.

It did, thankfully. But I refueled as soon as I could, knowing I should have kept a closer eye on my levels. Sometimes we just get too busy to pause and look. I know I 'm not the only one guilty of that. Burning your candle at both ends and suddenly feel the heat and wonder where the flame came from! Yup. It happens to all of us.

That's probably why I went to bed early last night and slept for 10 hours. Needed some petrol!

It's good my overloaded schedule is slowing down. Not every minute of the day is booked. I say that even though I did go to dinner with friends tonight and played trivia. But that wasn't stressful at all. I needed the laugh-out-loud moments that also refueled my mind and spirit. It was the proper distraction to get my wheels on the track.

I just gotta figure out how to get them moving forward. And possibly gain momentum.

Too many analogies for a Monday night? Probably! Just know every day is a new opportunity to get back on track. No matter how bad you think you've derailed things.

Good luck out there!

I Don't Know Squatch

In the category of "You see the darnedest things at the grocery store"... how about this Big Foot search vehicle? I mean OFFICIAL search vehicle. I laughed and at the same time wondered if there had been a Sasquatch sighting around here.

Got Squatch? I sure hope not!

And tonight I didn't know Squat (short for Squatch, right? Er no?). Met up with some work friends for dinner and trivia at Guu's on Main in Stevens Point. I could contribute to a few answers but there is a whole wide world of stuff out there I know nothing about.

Still, we finished 4th out of 14 teams. And we had a darn good time getting there!

Yup, I know it's a "school night" as we used to say. That's why I'm home by 10 and will be in bed shortly. I'm old enough to know some old trivia and old enough to know I need my sleep!

Have a great week, everyone!

A Hallmark Moment

Not to brag but... I'm gonna. We started celebrating Christmas in our department – a few activities here and there over the next 10 days since we can't meet in person. So today was trivia. More specifically...

That's right. Hallmark Holiday Movie trivia. I should be embarrassed I won with such a lame (to some, not me) topic. But I would have been more embarrassed if I hadn't won! All this time invested only to lose? Not for me.

Not that I'm competitive. Ha.

It was a serious of two Hallmark movies names – one real, one fake – and we just had to pick the real ones. I won't lie and say I got a perfect score because I didn't. I fell for a very close-to-real title. But I am glad I dove into my 2021 DVR'd selections to help with several titles.

And the grand prize? I don't know. It's in the mail, I guess. But I'll just cherish my dorky bragging rights for now.

I better get to my recliner and start "studying" for next year!

Sherbet You Can't Eat

It's Trivia Weekend in central Wisconsin this weekend. The annual event, anchored out of a radio station in Stevens Point, draws thousands of players on teams huddled in basements and garages with computers, books and caffeine.

I am not part of a team and am not filled with enough random knowledge to be drafted to one. Still it's fun the see many friends get excited about it.

In the meantime, I will stick with Trivia Crack, an app for my phone that allows me to play head to head with friends. Thanks to the ability of lucky random guesses, I have even won a few games. The logo above has kind of been stuck in my head. It wasn't until I was taking some "after" pictures of the gymnasium tonight that it dawned on my our prom colors are Trivia Crack colors.

Which, actually, are like mounds of colorful sherbet you can't eat!

It's a scrumptiously beautiful effect!!

I don't think I'm allowed to share photos of the final transformation, but here's a sneak peek if you were, for example, looking up while getting down on the dance floor....

I am sooo right about the Trivia Crack and Sherbet, aren't I? The whole scene is absolutely gorgeous!

Was so glad that we got so much done last night because it gave us a free pass tonight. That was welcome news since I had spent my day off running multiple errands and doing some little projects – all in the name of prom. All will be revealed tomorrow.

So after dropping off some cookies and soda for the dance, I had time to swing by home games for our softball team and soccer. Didn't stay too long at either but it was nice to see some of the girls at play. And since it was nearly 80 degrees, why not spend a little time outdoors??

We won soccer (Carter's prom date, Gracie) is a darn good player. It is likely we won the softball double-header, too. Didn't get the final scores, though. Jim took his dad to the baseball game down at that unique turf facility outside of Mauston. When Carter played there last year, it rained and rained so we couldn't really enjoy. They had a good time, though. In fact, the second game hadn't started when they left.

I feel bad for the baseball players who will be getting home late and have to get up early for the ACT test. That reminds me, I should probably make sure Carter's got his pencils sharpened...

And that they're good ol' No.2 yellow ones, not Trivia Crack colored ones.
