Forever in Our Hearts
Today was book-ended by joy and sorrow... with a 2-hour nap smack dab in the middle.
We said our goodbyes today to my dear sweet Emily. It was personally tough to see all her gorgeous senior pictures on display since I remember our fun on the photo shoot. But it was a privilege to share her smiling face with her family and friends who need to see it.
The funeral service was done so beautifully. Very nice message from our pastor and, surprisingly, memories shared from Em's mom, dad, sister and grandpa. I do not know where they found the strength to speak. But it was both humorous and touching. Mostly lending itself to more and more tears.
Would really appreciate continued prayers for Joe, Chris and Corinne. They've had to hold it together this week for the events last night and today. Now comes the everyday life. Each waking moment when Emily should be there. When there's an empty spot at the dinner table. When there is an empty space on the calendar where a school event should be. When the hole in their hearts doesn't get any smaller.
Just pray God will wrap his comforting arms around all of them so they can not necessarily move on and forget – but move forward, cope and remember fondly. Thanks.
After the service and lunch, we came home to a gorgeous day. Temps in low 40s and sunny. I was pondering if I should get out for a walk/run or clean the house and open the windows a bit. I did neither. I laid on the couch "for a minute" and woke up some 2 hours later.
Guess I was not just emotionally drained, but a bit physically, too!
Thank goodness I got up in time for our basketball game tonight. Assumption boys were hosting Almond-Bancroft for the regional championship. We were down a point at halftime but we came back strong and determined the second half and won by 10 points – 56-46.
Way to go, boys! Now onto Sectional Round One this coming Thursday!
And as any good athletes know, they wisely thanked their fans!
Pretty darn cool. And such a much-needed uplifting way to end the day.
