Front Yard Party

Today would have been a perfect spring day to stop and smell the flowers and enjoy a picnic or party or some sort of nice weather gathering. If only it were legal.

With no sports or music or anything, my camera has been missing some of its favorite faces this spring so we crashed the Assumption Senior Lawn Party today. In the school's front yard. Don't worry. There was social distancing!

In fact, these partygoers will all go their separate ways tomorrow when the seniors can pick up their own signs and place at the ends of their own driveways.

A lot of schools are doing this during this unique period of time that usually is only marked by the Senioritis virus – not this COVID-19 stuff! I've said it before that I feel bad for the high school seniors who are not only missing out at their last change to play high school sports, but perform spring music concerts and solo and ensemble competitions and just, well, hang out with friends for the last time.

As much as seniors enjoy a skip day, I don't think a skip month or 3 months is all that fun, after all.

Seeing these faces again sure made me miss school right now. And I don't even have a kid going there anymore. Of course, Coach Austin misses his kids, too. We'll never take family time – or Royal family time – for granted again.

God bless you, class of 2020!
