Some Bunny Loves You

Hubby texted me this backyard photo today and my first thought was, "Awww, some bunny loves us!" We can think that way because we don't have a garden and concerns he will nibble through it.

Instead, when Jim sent me the second picture, I thought, "Is there anyway you can order it to eat through those weeds he's trying to see over?"

No such luck. But I appreciated the cute photos.

Especially this week. Good grief, is it only Tuesday night? This has been a very stressful few days for reasons I can't blog about – for fear of offending the people who are contributing to my stress. But, I'm learning life lessons in patience. And learning that there's always some bunny out there who loves me.

Just need to focus on loving myself and trying to be the best version of Robyn that I can. And try to be that some bunny who makes someone's day brighter. Just like our little visitor.

May you all find positives in negative situations this week. Some bunny's got your back. And some bunny (this bunny) cares!

Some Bunny Loves Yard Work

You may wonder what I do when I actually have free time. Well I do let grass grow under foot. And then I watch wildlife enjoy it.

Now you're sorry you asked.

There have been a ton of rabbits frolicking in our yard this spring. I've seen quite a few in the front yard who hop over to the shed – then under it. I don't even want to know what's going on under there. I mean rabbits do have a reputation, do they not?

Mr. Rabbit here was in the back yard sniffing and snatching up fresh clover. Then he saw the lady with the camera and hopped closer.

"Ma'am. Please may I eat that lonely dandelion?" Well, he obviously had no idea that special treat was littered all over the front yard. But since he sounded desperate and asked nicely, I said, "Sure, Mr. Rabbit."

Well he gulped that down in one swift bite. Manners be damned.

Then with his after-dinner stogie in his mouth, he said with somewhat of an attitude, "Lady, can I get a light?" The nerve!

And that's why it's best not to leave me unsupervised. With a camera. And nothing else to do.

The Weekend is Hare

We finally broke our streak of 90-degree days today. I think it was only 88, but still humid. So hot that even Mr. Rabbit from under his shed had to lay out in the sprinkling rain to cool off.

It's funny because, when it's hot inside the house, Sylvester will lay on the kitchen floor just like that or against the north wall to cool off. But with our working A/C cranked in the house, my heat-seeking sister was cold today and had to warm up on the heated bathroom floor.

I think cats are part rabbit. I mean look at Sly's long back leg. Looks like Mr. Rabbit's.

At least the humans of the house are comfortable. I haven't even turned on my electric mattress pad in a week now. Might cave tonight. We'll see.

Last night I didn't turn it on because I was still hot from shooting pictures of baseball (they lost in their playoff game so they're done) and soccer (their game was suspended due to lightning but they won). Still ended up being a late night going through photos so I didn't blog. I figured you should get used to it anyway. I guess there won't be much cell phone service up in Alaska when we're near or between mountains. Which could be a lot.

After all this talk about the trip (3 days, 11 hours, and 43 minutes away), I finally got out the big suitcase tonight. That will fill fast since we will literally be dressing for 4 seasons! I actually had to measure our suitcases and will use our oldest one since it's 3 inches wider. Size matters for this trip!

Of course, part of my prep also includes getting some funds – and cashing in my Swear Jar. Which really is just a jar to deposit loose change for a good cause. And Alaska is it.

Any guesses how much was in there? It's a pretty big jar but only half full – even though my nephew says it should be overflowing if it's a real Swear Jar. "You golf," he said. That's a simple explanation! Anyway, I cashed out at $83.04. That should buy our first round of groceries up there!

The next three days are gonna fly. Plenty going on. No time to lay around like lazy cats and rabbits, that's for sure.

Have a good weekend! It's finally hare!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter! I hope you could enjoy and appreciate the miracle of Easter that Christ has risen.

Easter reminds me that things aren't always as they seem.

Potato salad? Nope. Sliced apples in vanilla pudding for apple Snicker salad. Christ is dead? Nope. He has risen!

And look who else rose today. Carter got on the road from Platteville before 7 a.m. to get here for 9:30 church with me. Of course, to get here on time for church with me would have meant a 6:30 departure to get here on time. But at least he was coming.

Didn't make it to in-person church but watched the livestream on TV together. So kind of the same.

He was here less than 8 hours but we made the most of it. A lot talking and catching up, some visiting around the neighborhood, then meal delivery to Grandpa and Grandma Austin in town (still social distancing). After that, we sat down to our own meal at home.

Yes, I made Easter dinner and yes, I did choose all the easy foods: mainly ham, crockpot cheesy potatoes, and that apple-Snicker salad.

Happy to send plenty back with him. Also sent back a basket for his girlfriend, who spent Easter with her family. I'm proud of myself for not stealing too many of their peanut butter eggs while filling the baskets! (They'll never know!)

Since the weather was gorgeous again – at least 73 – I walked around the lake after Carter left. Felt like a real spring evening. Even heard the early peepers!

All this fresh air this weekend has been amazing. I should feel springy and rejuvenated but instead am ready for bed, know I will sleep like a log, and don't even want to think about an alarm.

Hope you had a joyous Easter weekend as well!

Bunny Duty

Since Peter Rabbit is in the doghouse – thanks to the slap situation above – I had to step in as Easter Bunny around.

Which is the same as other years, but I forget how exhausting it is. Hippity hopping is not for the faint of heart.

I had to get stuff for the "big meal," too. So I ran to one store to get a ham – went on sale today so had to get one while they still had him. Get to the checkout. I definitely didn't get the one on sale anyway. Dumb bunny.

Did get a few goodies for the baskets and went to another store to get the rest. I also got a few ingredients for Easter dinner and realized when I got to the car that I had everything for the cheesy potatoes... except the potatoes. That was the other reason I had to go tonight. Those southern cut hashbrowns go in a flash around holiday time. Every holiday.

So I make my third trip inside a store. Whew. Tired yet? I am.

Got home and made up the baskets now so that's done. But it's 8 p.m. and I haven't sat down. So I'm gonna squeeze in two episodes of The Crown since hubby's at his last golf night!

Note to self: Next year be the Energizer Bunny instead of the Easter Bunny!

Communing With Nature

Since it's Monday I can now officially say I'm on vacation. And sitting around on my "dairy air" as much as possible! And thinking up new puns, of course. You're welcome!

I have a couple daily vacation goals...

1. Enjoy my morning coffee with Mr. Deck Chair and just BE outside as much as possible. Be one with nature. When it's not raining, that is.

2. Appreciate the weather. Even rejoice in the rain. Good for crops and grass and my flowers... and definitely forced me inside to do the dusting, vacuuming, etc. I didn't get to this weekend. Glad to knock that off my list.

3. Stop and smell the flowers. Even make new friends!

You know I'm a sucker for brown eyes!

4. Eat the most important meal of the day: Ice Cream! Sorry, no photo. It was 80-some degrees today and it was melting fast!

5. Get 10,000 steps per day (so I can enjoy #4 guilt-free). Again, no photos because I was melting fast!

6. Get some yard work done.

This might not be a daily goal. I was going to do some work in the front and got distracted by this cute little bunny.

Much preferred to snakes. So maybe I just stay away from the backyard all together. Well, at least put it off another day.

7. Watch some TV that I want to watch or read or both. Did both today. Hubby gave me the remote at 6:30 p.m. and told me to watch Wheel of Fortune to "boost my self-esteem." 100% accurate statement. It always does. Ha.

Oh wow. Seven items? I better stop there before vacation starts looking like work!

Some Bunny Loves Spring

I was so ecstatic that Spring Sports Season finally kicked off today – appropriately with Royals soccer – that I grabbed my camera and went to take pictures just to TAKE PICTURES! Then I get home and realize by the wildlife preserve in our front yard that I am not the only one who loves spring!

A trio of bunnies getting their salads in for the day! They are much more disciplined than me!

Definitely wild but still sorta cute!

I was especially relieved to see some robins. Yes! They survived!

Strutting past the snow like "we beat you!" Hopefully, it stays that way.

For those paying attention, the Royals are supposed to start their softball and baseball seasons tomorrow. If the weather holds. Nice enough at 62 degrees today, but I don't know if tomorrow will stay dry. If it does, softball has home opener vs Edgar and the baseball team is playing a "home" game away from home at Edgar.

Just hear "Play ball!" will be music to a lot of ears. Those other "some bunnies" who love spring for its sports!
