Fridays are definitely for floating – and paddling as needed, of course! We lucked out and had a perfectly pleasant evening with not rain and only occasional bugs.
Got out of work in time so we could pick up our neighbors and be on the Wisconsin River by 5:30 p.m. Plenty of daylight to work with at this time of year!
Unlike our excursion with Carter on Sunday, we actually had to paddle this time – against the wind.
In fact, Cindy and I opted to put our hats on backwards so the wind wouldn't catch the lid in front and blow them off!
That was only the first side of the island. Coming back, we all had hats on and returned to normal position to ride the waves (somewhat) toward the boat landing.
Other than the eagle that flew away from us immediately, we saw only a few unique sightings, like this really weird exposed tree root. Funky.
Saw a blue heron but it was too far away to get a decent shot without scaring her away.
Finally got my ducks in a row... Now what do I do with them?
These babies are cute AND pretty. Look at that purple!! Sweet!
Speaking of babies... On the way out of the boat landing parking lot, we saw these two.
Aren't twins just the cutest?
I like to think so!
Even individually, Bambi 1 and...
Bambi 2 were adorable!
Of course, their protective mother was just staring us down until we moved on. I was like, "Sorry, momma, but you are my wildlife today. Blame the eagle for flying off!"
Maybe next time we'll see some more feathered friends. That's what would float this photographer's boat... er, kayak!
