Well That Stinks

Sometimes Mondays just stink for being Mondays. But today there are added reasons...

Take my new co-worker, for example. I don't why there has been an influx of stink bugs around the house this winter, but I'm so over it!

Which brings me to another thing that stinks ... winter actually IS coming after all. We'll be in a winter storm warning from tonight until Wednesday morning. Our area is projected to get 5-8 inches of snow with high winds. Thus, school is already called off for tomorrow.

What doesn't stink is me getting to sleep in a bit and work from home tomorrow! Although I suppose more stink bugs will heading indoors for cover. Eww.

Football also stinks. Not talking about the Vikings. There were no surprises there. But may amazing 12-2 fantasy team bit the dust in the championship game. By almost 50 points. Grrrrr. Too many injuries and people with limited playing time. Dang. I really wanted our traveling trophy!

The one thing that definitely didn't stink was our Lady Royals basketball team. The undefeated ladies had a tough matchup against Neillsville tonight, who was also undefeated in their conference. Assumption held on for the 52-45 win!

So yeah, even stinky days can end on a positive (clean smelling) note! Hope your week is fragrance-free!

Caught a Bug?

Stupid Stink Bugs are invading the house again! They aren't the only ones. I think cold and flu bugs are going around, too. And, for this girl, spring allergies.

I don't get them every year – just the ones where there are extreme temperatures changes like, oh say, this past weekend. Several hours outside on Saturday and Sunday when it was in the 60s. Then drops like a dead bug down to the 20s and 30s. Eww. That is gross, isn't it?

So I've had the dry, scratchy throat that always reminds me of strep. But was quickly followed by the pesky cough and my favorite – stinging, water eyes.

Still like this bug better than a stink bug. Just wish the anti-allergy meds didn't make me feel out of it. Yes, I take the daytime, non-drowsy ones, but I still feel like I'm walking around with my head floating above me like a helium balloon.

Again, I still love spring better than winter. Come what may.

Speaking of May... Just 4 days away and I was wearing my winter coat and hat shooting some pictures of Lincoln High School baseball tonight. So not spring-like. I'll back for another game on a nicer day. Mainly because I was there to photograph two players and one was there and the other one forgot his uniform.

I guess I'm not the only one out of it.

Be careful out there!

Well That Stinks

Why must we move from one pest to another in Wisconsin? Mosquitoes (and snakes) this summer. Now the stink bugs!

That stinks.

The good news, according to my entomologist friends, is that like squash bugs and boxelder bugs, they are not known to breed indoors, cause interior damage, or harm humans. But... even though the one above was crawling on the outside of the living room window, stink bugs can be a real nuisance and cause alarm when they appear inside the house on draperies, blinds, lights, or even buzzing around one's head.

Remember how I broke my toe with my "knee jerk" reaction to a surprise Princess pile? Well I am surprised I haven't broken a finger or wrist shaking off a stinkin' surprise visitor landing on my arm or buzzing by my head.

I'm not smooth enough to handle some of these seasonal guests!

But I guess I already survived murder hornets and locust plagues in 2020, I guess I can survive a few stink bugs stinkin' up the house. That's what all those pumpkin spike-scented candles are for, right? I know they drive hubbies away at times. Not that they're classified as pests.

Yet. We still have 3 more months to survive.
