Rain Date

The best-laid plans rarely happen in the best way you planned them. Today we hit the road early to get to Waunakee to golf on our way to Platteville.

Left the house on time but the forecasted rain came early and stayed. Sat in the truck for 20 minutes at the golf course and raised the white flag. Canceled the tee time and kept heading southeast, hoping we'd come across a golf course at the same time there was also no rain.

We lucked our when we got to Barneveld  and the very hilly Deer Valley Course.

It was very, very hilly. We were hitting up hill or hitting downhill. Challenging but we were dry, so we couldn't complain! Plus it was technically an anniversary date, er rain date!

From there we were only about half an hour from Platteville. Checked into hotel and headed over to Potosi, a little town of 711 people and brewery employing 3 people from Carter's house alone! He had to work in the kitchen til close. But at least we got to see him...

Plus one of his roommates and the museum and the points of interest around town like...

Like the large beer can and ...

A beautiful sunset on the Mississippi River with Iowa in the distance.

Since Carter was still working, we headed back to Platteville for some sleep. Because it was a long day and we've got another one planned for tomorrow.

And this time the boy is joining us!
