Autumn Delights

You know it's a great fall day in Wisconsin when it starts with a pumpkin spice coffee, ends with the smell of campfire in your hair and includes two fall sports in between. Sunny, breezy and in the 60s... yes, more, please.

Today the Assumption Cross Country team traveled less than 10 minutes from home to The Ridges Golf Course where Lincoln (the Rapids public high school) was hosting its invitational.

Since it was right in our backyard, we had extra fans today! That was awesome.

The boys team ended up finishing 6th out of 17th schools (some from Divisions 1 and 2, while we're Division 3). That was good. Due to size limits on teams, Carter ran JV today. That was actually OK. It must have sparked his competitiveness because he had his best run and finishing time of this season. A few pictures...

Sprinting in the finishing shoot.

Yes, he did pass this guy. And finished with a time that was 15 seconds faster than any of his other runs this year. Still slower than last year for some reason, but good to draw the season to a close on a high note.

Now we just have a conference meet and sectionals and, hopefully, state.

After the meet, we raced up to Wausau to watch our football team take on Wausau Newman. With a 33-7 score, our Royals improved to a 6-2 record with one regular-season game left to go. What an exciting time for Assumption athletics.

The rest of the day and evening was a blur of grocery shopping, getting some photos uploaded, seeing Carter briefly before he had to work, and hanging out with friends around the fire ring. That's what fall fun is all about!
