Canyon Countdown

Photo from Yavapai Point by Cat Connor

My sister Rayna shared this photo today from the U.S. Department of the Interior. In just 2 weeks, Carter and I are going to see her, my brother-in-law and this old thing.

Yesterday, Grand Canyon National Park celebrated its 98th birthday. Long before it became a national park, this landmark’s timeless beauty was well-known throughout the country and parts of the world. Today the canyon is no less a source of inspiration than it was for these early tourists.

We will celebrate nearly 100 years of protecting this special place by finally seeing it in person! Some may say it's just a big hole in the ground, but to the photographer's eye, it's got potential!

Since it's nearly 11:30 p.m. and I'm just finishing up work and special projects, I really can't wait to escape to the desert! Looking forward to seeing sights, seeing family, relaxing, enjoying the sun (it's only 32 with windchill of 27 in central Wisconsin right now) and the son.

Let the countdown begin...
