It's a Boy

Our new "son" has arrived from Germany! What an exciting day!

The visiting students arrived at the school about 4:30 on a bus from Chicago. It was such a neat scene to watch the students disembark and see the crowd of waiting American hosts.

With social media and technology these days, all of the students (including Carter) have had plenty of interaction and time to get know each other before their face-to-face meeting. So as each girl stepped off the bus, she and her Assumption host would greet each other halfway with a big hug. Like long-lost friends.

Even the guys did that. Jim and I got hugs like Lukas already considered us family.

We had a welcome dinner and then came home to give him the nickel tour. He brought gifts for us --  including a Bavarian cookbook, which we are going to attempt to use during his stay (with his help) and a nice little scrapbook so we could get to know his family. He was pretty much speechless seeing one of my 3-inch thick scrapbooks covering only one year!

He is very easy to understand. His English is wonderful. He has to search for the correct word now and then, but seems to understand us so far. He's so sweet! And handsome, too.

Definitely the bundle of joy we hoped for!

(Early to bed, though. First of many field trips starts tomorrow with a 6:15 a.m. bus departure!)
