Kardiac Kids

Going into tonight's game, our Assumption boys basketball team had already earned the name "Cardiac Kids" because of their nail-biter games this season. So why not add another heart attack into the mix with a showdown versus Marathon.

We were a game behind them at tip-off. We knew it was going to be tough. And it was a battle. Very physical!

At the midpoint of the first half, we were down 30-13. Not kidding. Marathon could not miss the 3. Our boys did not give up, though, and had a rally so they went into halftime down just 36-32. The whole second half was an edge-of-your-seat roller coaster. We'd come so close to tying, but couldn't. Didn't even have the lead.

Except when it counted. Down 66-68 with 3.9 seconds left on the clock, the Royals got the ball down the length of the court, somehow into the hands of Jake Sullivan, who sank a three-pointer at the buzzer giving us a one-point victory! Want to see it?

Yup. The Buzzer Beater Boys have done it again.

And that wraps up the regular season, too, with us tied with Marathon and Stratford for second place in the conference. As you can see from the final standings above, we're no slouches. Crazy how we had this amazing year and then over half the conference did, too. Playoffs should be a blast.

Grab your pacemaker. They start next week.
