Last Swing at Summer

With 90-some degrees today, the weather was appropriately summer-y for an end-of-summer / start-of-school-year party.

Carter was with some of his own friends enjoying the Central Wisconsin State Fair in Marshfield. Jim and I spent the afternoon and evening with school friends, too. Well, fellow parents of his friends. Had excellent brats and burgers and food, food, food.

Despite the hot temps, it was breezy at our friends' place and just shady enough for us to keep our cool. Jim was hot, though, especially in the Lawn Game Department.

Here Jim shows his opponent Joe how to correctly toss a washer at the target.

Here Jim's partner Mark also shows finesse with his toss. They dominated the washer game and the bean bag toss, too! It was kind of funny. We all had our lawn chairs lined up on the driveway to watch such excitement. We ladies got our turn, too, but that didn't last long!

Somewhere around 6 p.m. the storms moved in. We're talking pouring rain and wicked lightning! So all chairs were moved into the garage for further eating, drinking and tall tales. Good times!

Best part is that we don't have to set our alarms in the morning AND it looks like summer will hold on for one more day!
