R U Ready 4 Some Football?

I realize I am outnumbered (quite significantly) in the state of Wisconsin today when the football game I was looking forward to had nothing to do with the Packers.

Sure, a middle school match-up doesn't carry the glitz and glamour of Kid Rock or Maroon 5, but it certainly had some high intensity! It was another close game for the Royals who were on the road at St. Pete's in Stevens Point.

The school is days away from some big festival, so you'll notice that there may be amusement rides, etc., in the background of photos. I can guarantee you the kids in the red uniforms will have plenty to celebrate, too.

They just beat us by a touchdown -- 23-16. And it was a hard-fought, loud-yelling, nail-biting, questionable-reffing kind of game!
Carter didn't have a ton of playing time but got in there to get dirty and sweaty and bruised. He was easy to spot with his green "undershirt." Who dresses that kid? Not me! This is what happens when he goes straight from school to a game with someone else. I suppose only a mom cares about that, so on with some action pictures...

The boys from St. Pete's were big. They all pretty much matched up with our tallest players... all 2 of them. So we were happy we hung in there and scored against them.

Carter had a few good blocks when he was out there. One was a loud crunching sound Momma did not like!

Nathaniel on the left is our tall kid I mentioned. But he's not that tall. The camera angle makes Carter look like a squirt!

Carter was on the kickoff team and played safety and tight end. Here he is ready to block for our running back.

There was one questionable pass interference call that came when Stevens Point was on 4th down and threw it in the end zone. We unbiased parents did not see any of our guys touch the intended receiver but that's how it goes. They got first down and scored and that was the turning point of the game. We got the ball back but ran out of time.

It was exciting enough, that's for sure. Since we were in Point, we stopped for pizza at Polito's, followed by a little touch of ice cream at King Cone. Now Carter is doing a mountain of homework and hubby is next door in the Man Cave watching TV.

I suppose I should tune into so see how my fantasy players are doing. I need to kick Jim's butt this week to kick off the season (one of several football seasons) on the right note!
