Just Hangin' Out

Since Carter was invited to a party tonight ("Mom, it wasn't a party. We were just hanging out.), hubby and I decided to hang out together, too!

Carter's non-party started at 5 p.m. We said we'd be gone so he could go if he got a ride there and home at 10. He found a ride. Like you had any doubt.

After work, we went to a Rapids Rage softball game in Stevens Point to see the the next-door neighbor girl play. Just can't get away from the ball field, you know. Rapids lost 1-0 to a team from Madison. Hopefully they'll turn things around and win some this weekend.

Since we were in Point, we went to Polito's for pizza. That's the place where they sell it by the slice and the slice is as big as a paper plate. We each just had one slice so we could save room for ice cream. Unfortunately, I just didn't have room for ice cream. What? I know, right? There's something wrong with this picture.

We went straight from Point to Golden Sands Speedway and got there in time to catch qualifying. Our nephew Colin, who started the evening 3rd in points, qualified 5th and finished a very exciting 75-lap feature in 5th place as well. So that should help him stay pretty high in the Late Model point standings. We had a good time with friends and family there. And for once I did not need a sweatshirt or jacket. Not in the least!

After Colin's race was done, we ducked out and headed over to the Grand Rapids Lions Park, where they are holding a music festival all weekend. Tonight's entertainment was the Spicy Tie Band. They are really good. We were there less than half an hour, though, since it was almost over when we got there. Plus, we didn't run into anyone we knew so we thought we better head home before I forced Jim to dance. (Though he said on the way home he would have. Now you tell me!)

We actually got home BEFORE Carter. By only 15 minutes. Still, I'm not ready for this "hanging out" business quite yet.

Though, I'll admit hubby and I had fun doing just that today!
