Homecoming 2014

When the morning dawns 30 degrees, you just pray for sun and hope for the best when you've got 5 hours outdoors ahead of you.

Today was homecoming, but before the football festivities could begin, it was cross country time. Thankfully our meet today was in Wisconsin Rapids at The Ridges Golf Course. Boys varsity ran first at 10:30 a.m. and were scheduled to be at the football field at 11:30 for pre-game pep band. Do you sense a full schedule yet?

Carter was still not feeling 100% but managed to run fine today. Not his best, but fine. He thinks he may have PR'd his 3rd mile (coaches keep track of mile splits as well as total finish time for personal bests).

Pre-race prayer. As a team we finished 9th out of 18 schools, including some Division 1 and 2 schools (we are Division 3)! A few photos from Carter's run...

Finishing strong.

After his run, we watched part of the girls' race but then had to scoot. Carter went to the football field and hubby and I went to pick up the wrist corsage for Carter's dance date, run that home, then head to the game. The temp had risen to 50+ degrees and it actually was comfortable in the sunshine.

The Assumption Marching Band entertained at halftime.

Forming the letter "A" to wrap up an excellent performance.

The football game itself was excellent, too. Even though we were 1-6 on the season, we finally had a healthy team today and it showed!

Here's one of our touchdowns. Oh yes, we had more than one for a change!

Look at that final!! Felt great to beat a rival, especially on homecoming!

After the game it wasn't long before pre-dance picture time. Carter's date Macyn and a few of her friends got ready at the same house. So that is where we met for photos. Take a look!

Dang, he has gotten so tall. I couldn't be shrinking, could I?

Macyn pins on Carter's flower.

The girls show some attitude with their wrist corsages.

Time to play in the leaves!

Trick one: Getting everyone on the dock in order. Trick two: Making sure no one falls in!

Thankfully, no one did. A good reason to smile.

 The guys show their style.

The group... Everyone look at MY camera, please!

Goofing around before a more serious photo.

Serious, but sweet, right? For the record, they are just friends!!

Not sure how long Cinderella lasted in her shoes since Macyn already took a break from them during pictures. Ha. I could not dance in them or even walk in them.

That's probably why some of us grownups went to the bar after the Grand March, sporting comfortable shoes and quite casual clothes! We had a nice time and just beat Carter home by 10 minutes before his return around midnight.

He had a great time. Just "weren't enough slow dances," I guess.

For the record, Mom's OK with that.
