Out with the Old

I'm hoping when we say "out with the old and in with the new," we mean year, not friends. But it was appropriate to spend New Year's Eve with old friends!

It was our turn to host the group formerly known as the Assumption gang, but none of us have kids there anymore. Still, it's how Jim and I came to know these other three couples. And we'll cherish their friendship well beyond school years.

We did have plenty of food to "get through" before midnight. That didn't happen. Some eating and drinking but mostly talking and laughing. It had been awhile since we were just together and able to sit around and catch up. 2019 was a tough year in this circle. We've been touched by death, by cancer, and by a variety of health and other challenges. There have been blessings, too, but we all look forward to a better year in 2020.

One thing I've learned, we can handle whatever comes our way. As long as we have each other. Plus our loved ones who live with us or just in our hearts.

2019 is over. I survived it. You survived it. Let's move on!

Happy New Year!
