Slump Day

Boy, it sure would be nice to win the Powerball tonight. No offense, King Cone, but there are some things even you can't fix.

I was having an obliviously happy hump day today. The sun was shining. We were breaking a heat record (well, all it took was mid-70s) so I got a nice 3-mile walk in over lunch. Things were looking bright.

Then we heard from the mechanic.

Things don't look good for the old Honda. The list of "things to do" (or fix) is getting lengthy and expensive. Some of it could be what caused the recent radiator/thermostat problem -- or could be a result of it. Either way, there are a few other things under the hood that are a mess.

We may have to decide tomorrow if we say, "Thanks for 203,000 miles of fun" and find something else (ugh) or "Fix it up and let's see how far she goes." It will depend on two things: If it crosses a certain dollar threshold or if we win the Powerball.

If we win the Powerball, I bet we can find a good used Civic somewhere with only 100,000 miles on it! Keep your fingers crossed.
