Burgers & Fries

Carter requested Burgers & Fries for his classroom birthday treat again this year. While we (as in me) were making them last evening, we thought we should do some "how to" pics since I often get asked to describe the process. This was also a chance to use the "food" setting on my camera. I'm not kidding! It has everything!

Anyway, this is how you make the Burgers:

Grab two Nilla Wafers for the Bun. Take your Oreo apart so you have one side of the Oreo with the frosting. Put the "extra" Oreo parts in a pile and use for ice cream or some other dessert later. They are not needed for this project. (A note about frosting: If you are lucky enough to get red frosting ones, your Ketchup is automatically there. If you do orange ones around Halloween time, your Cheese is there. If you use white ones, scrape the frosting off and mix and add colored cake frosting -- either red or orange. It really goes quickly if you don't have to color your own frosting!)

Cake frosting (Pillsbury in a tub -- make it easy on yourself) will serve as the "glue" to hold this together. Put a little frosting on bottom of one of the Buns.

Place it onto the frosting side of the Oreo. Press together gently -- Oreos can break easily.

Put a little frosting on the other half of the Bun.

Press together gently. Let sit awhile for the frosting to harden a bit. This doesn't take long -- maybe 5 minutes.

Set your burgers up, Ketchup side up, then pile in a pan (shown in top photo) or display container of your choosing. Add a canister of shoestring potatoes (Potato Stix) to serve as the Fries.

Ta-Da! Lunch is served!
