Kick it in High Gear

We had our last soccer game today. And, of course, the sun waited until the last game to shine! Better late than never...

I had to work concessions from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Then I came home and kicked in high gear. I managed to sweep, dust and vacuum in the half hour I had available before we headed back in town for Carter's game.

As usual, he played goalie the first half. This time, though, we were up against that tough team that beat us by one goal earlier in the season. In the first half, they got 3 goals past Carter. Just barely, but that doesn't matter, does it? To his credit, he had some great saves, too. I happen to get one on the camera.

Here he's grabbing it before it goes into the goal...

Now he's got it and he's protecting it before he kicks it away.

During the second half, he declared war on this kid. He's the one who scored the 3 goals against him!

They had some interesting battles. Carter did get one penalty for pushing, but we'd rather have him aggressive than letting the ball get by!

In the second half, his team did catch up and it ended up in a 4-4 tie. We actually were pretty happy with that, all things considered.

After the game, Carter and I went down to Port Edwards for their Villagewide Garage Sale -- just in case there was anything left. Managed to find a mother lode of books -- just a quarter each. I bought 30 today. I should be set for a few months!

Got home and kicked it in high gear again. Took a quick 3-mile walk and then uploaded these pictures. We're leaving for Marshfield Motor Speedway in about 5 minutes.

Now it's our nephew Colin's turn to kick it in very, very high gear. This is his debut in the Super Late Model division. You'll definitely hear more about that tomorrow!

Hope you enjoyed the sunshine today :)
