Dad's Favorite Pastime

Pretty fitting that on Father's Day we spend oh, about 6 hour or so at the ballpark. Since hubby loves baseball, I'm sure he was thrilled.

(Even though he could have been home on the couch watching his Reds take on the Brewers!)

We were supposed to play at 12:30 but with the impending rain storms, all the players were called and told to come early, like by 10:30 so we could get started by 11:30 and beat the weather. I had just gotten home from church and Jim was on the way to his 10:30 service, so it was a scramble.

Carter and I headed down to Nekoosa and Jim came later after church – and after the game was underway.

As luck would have it, the rain held off. And I mean ALL day. We had hours and hours of sun and wind and much warmer temps than anticipated. And as luck would have it, we won our first game of the day.

Some action...

Here Carter lays down a perfectly executed bunt to advance the runners. And by perfect, I mean it died on the grass and he was able to make it to first base. No one out and all runners advanced. Nice.

Here he is ready to run home for the score. We won by 9 runs!!

When that game was done, there was another game to follow and we were to come back to play after that one. If the weather was OK. And it was.

That game didn't go so well.

Carter wasn't hitting well. To be honest, no one on the Cardinals team was.

Then, when we were down by 10 runs already in the 4th, they had Carter pitch. Not sure why. It's definitely not his strong suit. But it made for some Mom pictures anyway!

And an artsy-fartsy one, of course!

He didn't last the whole inning and someone else with no experience got a chance, too. We lost by the 10-run rule in 5 innings. Put us second for the tournament, but that's not exactly a noteworthy way to get there.

Came home and did not have anything to make for supper. So I'm glad hubby loves ball parks and ball park food. Hope that hotdog was good.

Happy Father's Day!!
