Green Means Go!

It took all summer,  but we finally got down to Madison International Speedway to see our nephew Colin race.

We almost didn't go because there was a serious threat of rain. Good thing we "braved" the elements because the rain never came to the racetrack, located south of Madison between Oregon and Stoughton.

Our local football teams weren't so fortunate.  Rapids got rained out in town and lightning chased our Assumption team out of Thorp – and they'll have to return to try again tomorrow night.

As for racing,  we were prepared with rain coats and umbrella. And Jim's sister Sherry – Colin's mom – who knew how to get there.

Sorry for crappy photos from my phone. Colin qualified 6th, finished 2nd in the heat race and took 6th in the 60-lap feature. This was the last race of the season. Not sure where #87 finished in overall season points but it doesn't matter. It was just fun to see him racing.

The only bad thing is that it is 11 p.m. when it's over and it's tough to drive two hours to get home! Glad the Austin siblings kept each other awake in the front seat because this old lady kept bobbin' my head in brief naps ... and my legs were restless!

Time for bed since tomorrow is going to bring golf, not rain. That's my forecast and I'm sticking to it.
