'Tis the Season, You Know
Over the past day, we've been watching Santa's elves trim the Christmas tree. Possibly they were from our maintenance and grounds crew, too, but either way, they did a great job. Sits a tad crooked from a certain angle, but since I wouldn't dream of getting on a tall ladder to straighten it out, I won't complain.
Naturally, the royal blue and white lights reminded me of Assumption and Royals basketball. 'Tis the season for that, too!
Although the girls' season's greeting last week was a loss to Neillsville right out of the gate, they hoped to beat their rival, Marathon, tonight – just to get the season going on a positive note. The most recent history is that those two opponents handed Assumption their only losses last season. They still went onto state, thankfully.
This season, we have new players for depth but did not lose any. No senior girls last year. Our seniors this year (Carter's classmates) have been pretty involved since their freshman year. It's been fun to watch and should be a good season.
Tonight I know they really wanted to put last week's loss in the past and start on a winning streak. Marathon had other ideas, though. They crushed us. Not pretty to watch. We lost by close to 20 points. Uff da.
Hopefully the boys will have a good launching point when their season starts on Thursday. Plenty of ball left to play for both teams. The season is just starting.
Lots of Royal Blue to light up yet!
Season's Greetings!
