Plan B

The best part about having a backup plan is that every once in awhile you get to use it!

Today, for example, our golf outing with friends in Green Bay got rained out -- but hopefully rescheduled for Friday. I must have been distraught about this or just plain overtired, because I stayed in bed until almost 10 a.m. That is unheard of!

Carter, meanwhile, was off to breakfast at 7:30 p.m. with some old friends (sincere emphasis on old) who get a kick hanging around the teenage "grownup" that Carter is. They kept him occupied until lunch time. That gave hubby and I some time to contemplate what we wanted to do next on vacation.

We decided to go with Plan B. Something we'd talked about briefly last week but didn't say out loud because we didn't want Carter to get excited in case we didn't do it. When I managed to get a hotel room, the plans were cemented. When Carter got home, we said, "Pack your bags. We're going to Vikings Training Camp!"

What? Yes, this blog is coming to you live from Mankato, Minnesota, just across the street from Vikings Village! I realize only about 3 of you are smart enough to be impressed or jealous. The rest of you can just appreciate it for what's it worth, please.

So we really didn't have time to gather much together other than clothing. In all our "stuff" we couldn't find something that would be appropriate for autographs, either. Most of our pennants are year specific or have no room for autographs. So we had to make some side trips on the way at Wal-Mart in Rochester, then Target in Mankato and finally had some luck in Scheels here where we got an official Vikings Training Camp pennant for autographs. Now hopefully we'll get in the right line and get a few so the pennant doesn't look all empty!

When we checked into the hotel, I got purple and gold beads, too -- and didn't have to earn them! The AmericInn here has some neat Vikings stuff hanging up as well that I will have to get some pictures of. Very cool.

Yes, I'm a little excited and yes, Plan B is alright with me!

Good for you guys! Plan "B" is often more fun than Plan "A." (Or at least you can keep telling yourselves that.) Our Plan "B" is painting two rooms and having new appliances delivered this week. Wheeeee!
