Deck the Doors

I'm pretty sure we're the Fun Department at work. And to prove it, we had a holiday door-decorating contest.

We were divided into 8 teams of 5 and we could basically conjure up any theme we wanted. Or, as some teams did (not ours), find inspiration on Pinterest.

Our group focused on Buddy the Elf from the popular movie Elf. The door frame was decorated with some of Buddy's favorites: Skittles, candy canes, maple syrup, and candy corn. We had a life-size picture that we encouraged people to take a selfie with and post it with a #sentryelfieselfie hashtag.

Wow, creativity AND a social media campaign? A sure winner!

Well, no. My team didn't win, but we had fun. But here are a few of the doors to inspire you...

The winning door was this gingerbread house. Layered lunch bags served as the gingerbread. Hard candy and gum drops were hot-glued into place. Lights flashed along to music played via bluetooth speakers in the "window box." Somewhere there was air freshener, too, that smelled like gingerbread. Nice work.

This was my favorite because nothing beats as Charlie Brown Christmas – especially with Snoopy.

Inspired by Pinterest, they adhered black Dixie cups to balloons to make that "string of lights." I know. So  much creativity in our department!

What I liked about this one is that I recognized right away that they used a Cricut – my favorite scrapbooking tool for cutting out letters in almost any font and various shapes, including a reindeer, I guess!

Fun, huh?

Now it's back to work this week with no distractions... ha, ha. Other than the decorations, flashing lights, and random treats.

It is the most wonderful time of the year!
