Log Jam

Not sure how Santa manages to navigate the globe in one night when it's a big deal just for high school hoops fans to make their way around the Marawood Conference.

Marawood blends schools from Marathon and Wood counties. Assumption is located at the southern-most tip in Wisconsin Rapids. Tonight, our opponents traveled more than 2 hours from the north to get here.

Yup, we played the Phillips Loggers. And yes, for us central Wisconsin folks that's still way Up North. And yes, it's nice on winter nights that this year is their year to travel.

As long as they were coming to town, they brought both their boys and girls teams. Makes sense. So hubby and I made it a date night.

Girls played first.

Our Lady Royals played so well they managed to get even some of our favorite JV girls – like Miss Kendall above – playing time. Final score for them was 66-39. Nicely done!

The boys had their hands full. The Loggers had tough defense and some great shooters, too.

Thankfully, we were able to stick with them and stay out of foul trouble for the most part.

Plus we had some fancy moves of our own! Nicholas "Air Jordan" for the steal!

In the last 2 minutes, we were able to make some clutch free-throws to put the game out of reach. Nicholas was 6 for 6 and here Ethan makes the final point of the game. Royals win by 10!

Oh I am sure I took a few hundred pictures tonight between the two games but since we're heading Up North (to Luck, not Phillips) in the morning, shutter bugs have to hit the hay!

Hopefully Santa gets enough sleep so he can find our way tomorrow.
