Back Paddling

Probably a month or so ago, we were talking stupid with the neighbors and we declared we'd be kayaking by April 17. So I put it on my phone calendar so we wouldn't forget.

Today, my reminder popped up: "Kayaking?" I swiped a big NO. Dismiss.

With rain and some 40 degrees, it definitely isn't 'yaking weather yet. Good thing we had a backup paddle, er plan. The four of us went out to eat instead.

So we watched the rain pour into the Wisconsin River from our window seats at Anchor Bay. The few times it rained during our outings last summer, we ended up paddling at the speed of light to beat the lightning. We would have had to deal with that today plus cold temps and wind. Possibly an iceberg or two, as well.

That doesn't sound remotely fun. Hopefully in a few weeks, this gradual arrival of spring will get somewhere and we can actually get out there. We're definitely anxious to get back into the saddle, er paddle, again!
